DTN COMMENTS: The country is slow to start this morning, with just a few
bids on the table following a round of light trade mostly in the North
yesterday and in the South on Wednesday. Dressed trade in Nebraska and Iowa
was at mostly $182, a little more than $1 higher than last week's weighted
average basis Nebraska. Live business in Kansas and Texas has been marked at
mostly $114, fully steady with last week's weighted averages. Asking prices
for cattle left on showlists are around $115 to $116 in the South and $185
in the North. More trade should need to take place at some point today. Beef
cutouts are expected to be lower with light to moderate box movement.
